Going Madbury for Cadbury | Invent the Next Cadbury Dairy Milk

madbury for cadbury

When I was 17, I crashed my first car. Not just crashed. I wrote it off. Smashed it to smithereens. It’s a miracle I walked out unharmed really, with little more than whiplash and a small cut on my hairline. I don’t like to think about it, naturally, let alone talk about it, but one moment that gives me comfort from that traumatising day is when I sat in the hospital, silent with shock and my Mum gave me my glasses that she’d discovered intact on the road. “I found your glasses” she said. “Oh, and I rescued your chocolate!” I looked at her confused and then we shared a small, grateful giggle as my hands wrapped around a squished purple bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk.

Cadbury has been there through so many moments of my life. A comfort at the most devastating, a treat during the sheer happiest, and many, many nights in between. From heartache to I Love You’s, to birthdays and nights in with the girls, I can remember dozens of occasions I sat and shared a few lines of the nation’s favourite milk chocolate.

Crunchie bits to Caramel, Fruit and Nut or Jelly Popping Candy… gosh I love them all, I’m not sure I could pick just one… but what if you could invent your own? What if you could create a completely new bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk?

This month, Cadbury are opening their creative doors for a nationwide search to find the next Cadbury inventor. With 90,000 flavour combinations from basil to cola jellies, to elderflower and bubble gum, this is the chance to Go Madbury for Cadbury!

You can pick from every kind of taste from the chewiest to the craziest before giving it a name, and that’s not all. The three finalists will visit Cadbury’s home in Bournville and work with the best chocolate experts to make their creations a reality. All three bars will then be sold in stores next year with the nation’s favourite becoming the latest addition to the Cadbury Dairy Milk range!

It’s an immediate satisfied smile, announced with a sigh of pleasure. It’s a pick me up on a bad day, a recognition of a good day, a treat just because. So with that I got thinking about the flavours that give me the Cadbury feeling… energising mint picked from years playing in my family garden, the warm embrace of cinnamon, a childhood nibble of liquorice. However it was three particular tastes that stood out as the utmost comforting combination. Firstly, a sprinkling of fresh lemon and ginger tea. When I suffered a horrendous bout of the Fresher’s Flu, my Dad insisted on boiling cubes of chopped ginger, served with a slice of lemon. It was a soothing hug in a mug and one I repeat whenever I’m feeling rundown. The boost of citrus and spice; pure comfort. Next a crunch of shortcake biscuits. Sweet and pleasing, melting in the mouth, reminding me of sugary biscuits at my Nana’s house, happily dunked in a cuppa. Lastly for a dusting of joy. Popping candy, the unexpected firework that releases a playful giggle to ease all upset and enrich elation. Here it is, Cadbury Dairy Milk Soooooothe. The bar that will always bring you comfort. To pick your flavours for your Cadbury Dairy Milk creation, head to www.cadburyinventor.com and submit your idea before 31st July 2018. Anyone in the UK and Republic of Ireland can enter and vote for the top three ideas which will be available to purchase. The winning bar will be in shops for at least twelve months and better yet, its inventor will receive a whole year’s supply! (T&Cs apply) This post was sponsored by Cadbury.
